Different categories of fashion styles

4 Mins Read

The word “fashion” describes an ever-evolving phenomenon. It’s interesting to consider the potential directions such a shift might take, whether it be forward (constantly developing novel designs) or backward (reintroducing older styles, perhaps with some updates). For instance, the 1960s style was reintroduced in the 2000s, despite being out of date, due to the influence of a handful of actors, models, or other celebrities.

Similarly, there may be hundreds of distinct styles of design, which is why many different labels have been applied to the various categories. Therefore, the primary categories of clothing designs will be discussed here.

Types of Fashion Style

Following are some of the most popular fashion designs:

Classic Style

The classic design is a more formal, old-fashioned one. It’s a design that tends to stay the same over time and finds widespread social acceptance. In formal settings such as a workplace, business meeting, or presentation, people typically opt for more conservative clothing. Men typically wear plain pants, shirts, blazers, or suits, while women opt for basic dresses like saris or plane suits. There aren’t a ton of color choices, and none of them are patterned or multicolored.

Formal Style

It’s business attire. There is no universally accepted dress code for the workplace. For instance, suits, business attire, and school uniforms. The variety of styles and colors available in formal gowns is extremely restricted. These gowns do not come in any other color or pattern options. Formal dress is essentially a dress code, as different schools and offices have different dress codes, such as the uniform of police, the uniform of traffic police, the uniform of defiance service men, etc., whereas classic style is typically of a single type and has no official code. Second, while dressing in a classic manner is optional, dressing formally is not.

Vintage Style

Clothing that is at least 50 years ancient is considered vintage. Even though it may be more comfortable, some people refuse to update their wardrobes to reflect current trends. The current trend is to dress in retro garments such as long dresses, gown coats, and loose-fitting pants. It’s also sometimes called “retro style.”

Ethnic Style

Due to its regional and/or cultural roots, an ethnic type of dress is one of a kind. The people of a given area have their own distinct culture and traditions, and the clothing they wear reflects this. Men in Rajasthan wear kurtas and pagadis, while women in Gujarat wear ghagharas and cholis, etc.

Casual Style

In reality, the term “casual style” describes an aesthetic characterized by the wearer’s preference for unstructured garments that are still comfortable even after several hours of use. Because it lacks a signature pattern or shade, it’s not appropriate for the workplace but is instead favored for more casual pursuits like lounging at home, strolling the mall, or catching up with friends. Jeans, t-shirts, lowers, tracksuits, runners, and similar garments are typical of this fashion.

Sporty style

A distinct style, known as the “sporty style,” has been developed to meet the needs of those who want to look good while engaging in active pursuits like cycling, playing outdoor sports, tracking, etc. Tracksuits, shirts, sneakers, and other athletic wear.

Bohemian Style

Bohemian fashion is distinctive due to its departure from conventional dress codes in both its unconventional silhouettes and the unconventional fabrics it employs. Moreover, in this fashion, individuals don an assortment of materials, including but not limited to feathers, seashells, thread, and cloth. In most cases, people use native materials without any kind of processing. (through machines). Those who identify with the bohemian lifestyle embrace this attitude.

Street Style

Despite its odd name, this fashion trend originated in the sidewalks of major cities like Paris, New York, Tokyo, and Mumbai in India. The youth have elevated no-frills streetwear to the level of chic and stylish. Pairing a t-shirt with trousers; a skirt with a top; etc.

Grunge Style

Grunge fashion, like street fashion, is freeform, encompassing untidy hairstyles, black boots, tight or torn trousers, etc. The dresses are either loose-fitting and flowy or decorated with elaborate patterns.

Punk Style

Leather coats, dyed hair, piercings, etc. are all standard issue for members of rock bands. Actually, it symbolizes a fusion of aesthetics from many different cultures

Gothic Style

The usual design is smoky, mysterious, and dark. Dress in the gothic design is typically dark, as is typical of its inhabitants. It’s a popular choice for some teens to wear to teen gatherings.

Artsy style

This distinct look is typical of clothing that has been sewn by hand. In addition, it shows how a person prefers to express his or her individuality and preference. There are those rare instances when a select few individuals create completely unique dresses of their own design.

Conclusion

Similarly, these are some examples of globally recognized fashion trends that are popular in some parts of the globe but not others. On the other hand, there are certain styles of clothing that are universally popular and worn by people everywhere. However, there are types of dresses that are reserved for a particular event, a particular area, or even a particular time of year; for instance, ethnic wear, street style, punk style, bohemian style, etc.
